Basic Training

ATTENTION ALL SOLDIERS! Get the ultimate workout experience from a real Army Drill Instructor and lean the workout routines and training exercises that an Army solider goes through. A combination of calisthenics, cardio, and strength, this class is a sure way to get the benefits of a personal trainer while building comradeship in a group environment!

 

Adult Group Lessons
Teens and adults overcome fear and refine strokes. Diving, treading water and personal safety skills  can also be taught.

 

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
Includes 30 hours of training in Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR-PR and AED certifications.

 
Aquacise =H20 + Exercise
Participants adjust the tempo and intensity to personalize a workout in this low impact environment.

 
Arthritis Aquatic Program
Taught in conjunction with the Arthritis Foundation, this class works on flexibility, range of motion and joints using gentle exercises and stretches.

20-20-20
This innovative class includes a combination of 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of toning using body bars and dumbbells, and 20 minutes of abs and stretching. Step on in and join us for this fun and exciting workout.

 
Active Older Adults (AOA) Yoga
Build strength and flexibility, reduce stress and tension and increase your overall health, energy and vitality in this high-energy, self-pacing class. Use of props may ease participants into gentle stretches that will increase balance, flexibility and range of motion.

SCUBA Certification
Led by certified Diving Instructors from Underwater World, participants learn safety and SCUBA skills. Class fee includes equipment rental. To register, call Underwater World at 215-672-4180.

TNT (Tummies-n-Things)
A great class for all fitness levels. Class includes isolation exercises for the entire abdominal region, hips, and inner and outer thighs. Class is in the shallow end of the pool.

 
Water Safety Instructor Certification
Includes WSI and Fundamentals of instructor training (FIT). Call for dates and times. Re-certification appointments available in all Red Cross Classes—215-632-0100 x1329.

 

Yoga
This class challenges the body and mind through strengthening, stretching, relaxing, and breathing.  A gentle warm-up begins this class, easing into various postures with an emphasis on conscious breathing.  Flexibility, strength, and muscle tone will continually improve as your mind, body, and spirit work together in harmony. Please bring your own yoga mat.

 

 

 

 

Zumba

Zumba is a fitness program inspired by Latin Dance. Zumba is a mix of salsa, reggaeton, mambo, rumba, flamenco and aerobics that'll turn your regular sweat session into a heart-pumping dance party. Music selections include both fast and slow rhythms to help tone and sculpt the body as party of the workout.

 

 

Pilates

This mind-body workout focuses on strengthening the core muscles (abdominals, low back, and gluts), with an emphasis on breathing. A variety of exercises designed for beginner to advanced will enhance your own body awareness, posture, strength, and flexibility.

 

Super Trim

This 45 minute class starts with a warm-up, then covers the entire body, working all muscle groups with resistance training using weights and bands. This conditioning class ends with awesome abs and a final stretch. Remember that a well-toned body burns more calories at rest!

 

Personal Training

Our Personal Training Program provides specialized, one-on-one training by certified instructors to meet the needs of our members. Personal attention will guide you to a healthier body, mind, and spirit. This exercise program is designed based on your personal goals and your current level of fitness.

 

 

Body Combat

BODYCOMBAT™ is a non-combat, martial arts-based fitness program with moves drawn from Karate, Tae Kwan Do, Kung Fu, kickboxing, Muay Thai and Tai Chi. Each 55-minute BODYCOMBAT™ class is choreographed to 10 tracks of the latest music, providing an exhilarating exercise experience that delivers ultra-fast fitness results.

 

Body Pump

Body pump is the fastest way to shape up and lose body fat. It is a toning and conditioning class with weights and is for just about everybody who wants to add strength training into their aerobic workout. The simplicity of the class makes body pump a great starting point to develop strength and confidence. Hot sounds and compelling choreography keep you going through each 45 minute to 1 hour workout! You will use a step platform, a bar, and a set of weights.

 

Northeast YMCA Wellness Programs

The YMCA health and wellness programs are developmentally appropriate and help people at any stage of life build positive health habits. Participation in YMCA programs offers youth and adults opportunities for friendship and community, a sense of well-being, increased self-confidence and improved mental abilities.

YMCA programs and services cut across diverse populations with diverse needs and attempt to take into account the total-health of each person. The YMCA provides a variety of health and wellness programs including exercise and water fitness classes for people and families of all ages, health and wellness seminars, educational classes, personalized training programs, non-competitive youth and adult sports leagues and social opportunities for seniors and families.

 

 

Dance Aerobics

Done to lively music. This is co-ed program for intermdiate/advanced members of any age. Dance Aerobics is a vigorous enjoyable aerobic exercise program, including muscle toning for super overall workout!
